Safe Eats: Food delivery app catering to dietary requirements

SafeEats is a mobile app that shows a variety of food items specially curated/personalized according to the user’s nutritional needs, enabling them to see nearby restaurants catering to their requirements. Our app doesn't exclude restaurants that don’t cater to one’s diet, instead displays the composition of each item on a restaurant's menu. A nutritional calculator can allow users to make informed choices while planning their meals.

Problem Statement

The inability of users to order food that caters to their nurtitional needs/restrictions online through delivery services as well as the lack of vital information/composition of food delivered/consumed which could be detrimental to the user’s health. There also remains a gap between philanthropists & beneficiaries, in the realm of assuring food security there appears to be uncertainty that holds the donators from trusting organizations.

Design Solution

An online food-delivering platform where users can curate/personalize their meals according to their nutritional requirements/restrictions. The platform would specialize in providing users with adequate resources such as a nutritional calculator to help them make informed decisions about selecting their meal, It would also be a platform that allows user’s to donate, bridging the gap between donators and benefactors.

Process

Research & Analysis: conducted user interviews, surveys and competitor apps to understand the pain points and user needs. We also studied competitor apps and industry trends to gather insights


Information Architecture: Based on the research findings, we constructed the app's navigation and content, prioritizing features and information according to user needs.


Wireframing & Prototyping: We designed low-fidelity wireframes to visualize the layout and navigation, iteratively refining them based on user feedback. Afterward, we built a high-fidelity, interactive prototype to test the design.


Usability Testing: We conducted usability tests with a diverse group of users to validate the design and identify areas for improvement. Based on the feedback, we made necessary adjustments to the design.


Visual Design & Style Guide: We developed a cohesive visual language, including color schemes, typography, and iconography, ensuring consistency throughout the app. We also created a style guide to maintain design consistency in future updates.

Key Goals

Our solution aims to achieve 4 goals-
1. Making the food available and accessible to all the people according to their requirements irrespective of any differences.
2. Make people aware of the choices they make through nutritional info about their food.
3. Help people calculate their macros and other nutritional values, get plans, set goals to help them achieve their goals for a healthy and active lifestyle.
4. Ensuring a transparent and easy donation from home process to curb food insecurity persisting in the society.
